I request that my Avatar flag be removed from Cestus.  I can no 
longer, in good conscience keep the flag.   There are unresolved issues 
on med that I can not live with.  The AVATAR flag implies that I support 
some things that I just can not support.
	Medievia is a DIKU derived mud.  Please don't take my word for it.
Ask any of the programmers.  The main sticking point with the whole DIKU
affair is that Vryce (and in turn Ozy) say that they have changed/added
so much to the original DIKU code that they are no longer /legally/

For me, this isn't about 'legalities' it's about ethics.
	Don't buy that Med is a million+ lines of code compared to the 
MERC beta.  ALL of the DIKU/MERC derivatives are around the MILLION
lines of code mark.  Yet, the other muds follow the license and Medievia
does not.

	I know that I'm going to get branded as anti-medievia.  I can live
with that even if it's not true.  I'm not anti-med.  I like med.  I like
to play it.  I like to help newbies.  I've been very faithful to the rules
on medievia.  To the best of my knowledge, I'm one of VERY few Heros to 
have played as long as I have and in the CPK clans that I have without
a history file.  No.  I'm not anti-med.  But not being anti-med doesn't
mean that I have to agree with /everything/ that med does.  And as a
professional programmer that has worked in the private secotor and 
contributed to the Open Source community, I cannot associate myself with 
an organization that chooses to ignore software licesnes.

	The easiest way for me to explain what I'm talking about is to
give a quick example.
	Original Sentence.
	"The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog."
	New Sentence.
	"A fast beige vulpine leaped across a slothful mutt."

	It's pretty clear to everyone that the 2nd line is 'derived' from
the first line, even if it shares no words in common with the original.

	The only way to have an original mud, is to start from scratch in
the beginning and go from there.  You can't rip DIKU out of the code after
the fact.  It doesn't work that way.

	By all means, do not take my word for it.  Ask the Medievia coders
themselves.  You can try, as I have, to contact Vryce directly to ask some
questions, but you probably won't get a response.   Ask the Medievia gods
what they think and what they know.

Please don't take my word for it.  I've struggled with this for months.
I did my own fact finding.  There is a lot of biased information out 
there.  The newsgroup rec.games.mud.diku is a good source of information,
but be aware of possible motivations some people have.  I've defended 
Medievia numerous times on RGMD.  Some of the rumors are outrageous.  
But you /can/ find very good information out there.  You can always 
email me if you want.

Will I still play med?  Sure.  I'll even still help newbies.  It's 
something I enjoy.  The AVATAR flag only helps me with naming and
telepaths.  I can do without it.  

I appreciate all the help and support I've had as an Avatar.  There are
several good Avatars and I have enjoyed being an avatar with you.
