Hello Again! - 02-05-2009, 02:00 AM

Yeah, it's been a long while.

It's nice to see there's still a little activity here. Anyway, Nicole says 'hello'. We've been married over three years now. We've been in St. Clair for a couple of years, but without the Internet, as usually only one of us is working at any one time. But right now, she's in college (ECC), and I'm working almost-full-time at Harman-Becker in Washington, making radios for all of those Chrysler vans that not a lot of people are buying. (Hence the reduced hours.)

At least for now, "He of the Long Post" is back. I'll get in touch with amono (Jerry), as I've stayed in touch with him up to about Christmas '08.

What am I playing? The wife and I have been playing Diablo II on a LAN (yeah, STILL PLAYING IT!). A little bit of PS2 games, and oh, don't miss this one: if you've never heard of a board game called "A Touch of Evil", go research it online and buy it. Don't think about it, just do it. Yes, it's worth the $40+, I'm not even kidding. I'll get into that later.

I'll wait a while and see what shakes down. BTW, thanx for keeping up the site, Dave (tuxz0r).

I'll keep checking in, as I'm going to try to write some serious gamer articles
eventually, and try to have a friend host a website for me if time permits.
Going for a Master's in Education: English. Msg me if you want to say hi.

I heard that Harmon Becker was going to cut down to three days a week. With them slowing down and Sporlan laying off more people, it is a scary time to be looking for a job! (I am not looking for one, just if you are more power to you!)

We're at four days a week right now, and they'll revise that in a couple of weeks. A lot of factories around here are taking advantage of the state's Shared Work program, where you draw a percentage of unemployment and work 3-4 days a week if the employer cuts everyone's hours instead of just laying off a few. Got my state card in the mail yesterday.

Nicole gave up looking for work, after being a temp for Harman-Becker for about four months last summer. She went back to ECC, which is turning out to be our ace in the hole. While I took a couple of extra weeks off over Christmas, I looked forward to the end of February, when her loans will come in and bail us out. With all of this state money, I might as well go back to school and become a teacher and finally be full-fledged communists!

Lore, man, grats on being Married! I know it's been a long time since I've heard from anyone out there, but it's good to hear from you again. And theres nothing wrong with playing Diablo 2, heck I'd love to get a Lan game on that going again, but no one out here in South County plays it. Yes, I moved from Pacific/Union to South County. My fiancee and I got a very nice apartment out here. but enough of me, its still nice to see the board up and running, I'll be sure to check in more often.

Update - 03-08-2009, 06:24 PM

The tentative plan now is to return to college in the fall, either Kirksville or Maryville, in the far reaches that is northern Missouri. Right now, I'm leaning toward Maryville, because Kirksville already had one chance to give me a *marketable skill*. I'm thinking either high-school or college English teach, leaning toward college. Either way, it'll be about two years. But I'll be online so I can, for once, actually keep in touch again.

I'm doing better moneywise, thanks to a deer that didn't look both ways before trying to cross my Ford Taurus. The insurance company got my car, and I got about three thousand in the bank. Hey, if I'm going to back to school, going down to one car won't be convenient, but it's one less car to insure the both of us for. Less bills is very necessary.

I've also a mind to add a few more games to my collection before I head up to the Land of Kirk, or that other place north of Kansas City. At Geek Out, the owner of the store sold me on a dungeon game, and he has a copy of d20 Modern that I've been meaning to pick up. Meanwhile, I've been collecting Magic cards for a draft box I have: I'm trying to get one copy of each card, from as many sets as possible, since the 8th Edition/Mirrodin, new format, except the four Lorwyn blocks. I'm not worrying about rares or trying to get a complete set, though. I'll post about that in the future.

Could you send a relative of that deer my way?
