Montreal Trip
May, 2004
As a fun getaway, we decided to head up to Montreal while Becky's folks were in town. None of us had been there before (I don't think I'd ever been to Canada at all before) and we'd heard it was a neat place. It was, too. It was like being in a European city, only one that was only five hours away. We saw plenty of things but only scratched the surface of what it offered (literally -- there's a huge chunk of the city that's underground!)
Montreal is located on an island, and in the middle is Mont-Royal, the city's mountain (it's not really that big). We started out here, appropriately enough and looked out over the city spread before us. The odd white building in center is the Biodome and Olympic Park Tower, which you'll see more of later.
Another view of the city. The weather was really nice and many citizens were taking advantage of it by riding bicycles up the mountain. The mountain wasn't huge, but I would not wanted to have been doing that!
A view towards the St. Lawrence River, and the bridge we came in on.
Closer look at the Biodome and Park Tower.
Becky and her folks pose on Mont-Royal.
A statue of unknown identity I photographed while I was supposed to be navigating towards our Bed and Breakfast.
Our room at D&D's B&B, which was a really nice place. The hosts were very friendly, the rooms comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious. We recommend them!
