Donald and Jonathan Visit
July, 2004
We began the 2004 Tourist Season with a long-overdue visit from Dave's Dad, Donald, and our nephew, Jonathan. We went to all sorts of places and saw all sorts of stuff, but were never more than two hours from home. New England rocks! We began our trip in Salem, home of witches and pirates...
The good people of Salem want you to know that there's more to the town than just the brief period of history when the witch trials took place. But that doesn't stop them from popping a picture of a witch onto any flat surface, including the police cars. Here we are in the Witch History Museum, learning all about the "incident". This is Tituba, creeping the kids out with tales of voodoo.
The girls begin having seizures indicating demonic possession.
Fine, fine mannequinship. No witch in the world scares me more than these two gentlemen.
This fellow was reputed to be the Devil himself, and underwent a highly dramatic arrest. I mocked the mannequins before, but this scene is great!
This is the kind of being that witches like to hang out with.
Yarrr! Next we went to ye pirate museum, mateys! Our tour guide there had seen just a few too many Jack Black movies, but he was hilarious. This isn't him.
Kids, let this be a lesson: Piracy doesn't pay!
Pirates in bad times...
...and good times.
Just keep telling yourself, 'It's only a mannequin!'
Yarrr!
I can't tell you much about this ship other than that it was docked in the marina.
Jonathan wanted some Atlantic Ocean water, so we decided to stop at this promising location!
Somewhere in this photo are some sand crabs that were scuttling around.
There were also hermit crabs galore!
Whereas most of these shells are uninhabited, many of them are hermit crabs, but it's hard to tell in this photo.
