Happy New Year from the SlithyToves.ORG family and Sophia, Anarkey and Chaosopher in particular. We hope that you and yours had a good year.
For us, it's time to look back and reflect on what the year hath wrought for SlithyToves.ORG and our family.
Car crashes. IBooks. Birthdays. And more!

Let's see. Early this year, I was driving home with Sophia when someone decided to try and ram me head on with his pick-up truck. I was able to pull off the road to avoid the bulk of him, but he hit my rear panel driver's side. I checked on Sophia and she was fine.

It was our first time ever dealing with an insurance company on a claim. He had progressive and they took great care of us. I wish I could say that that was the last time we've dealt with an insurance company. Alas, that is not the case.

A few months later our crash magnet kicked into gear. This time, they had the same insurance carrier that we do. This parking lot accident actually did more damage than the road one. Still, we are all grateful that there were no injuries in either accident.

Then, home one night during a thunderstorm, we got hit by lightning which knocked SlithyToves.ORG and all our sister sites, offline. This was a real pain. Probably the worst of the insurance dealings. We got lots of run-around. In the end, however, we were back up and running and in better shape than before.

This year also saw some hard times for Chaosopher's family. My brother had some personal issues that came to bear. My father, late in the year, suffered what was thought to be a minor heart-attack. After some exploratory surgery, he got a clean bill of health, and for that we are all grateful.

It looks like a rough ride, but not all of it was so bumpy.

This year, Anarkey scored both an ipod and an ibook which she used, successfully I might add, when she joined Nanowrimo.

Congrats again Anarkey!

Sophia celebrated her first birthday with friends and family. It was her first time eating cake and ice cream and she loved it.

This year, we also purchased a new house. It has been, and still is, quite the experience. I wish we could say were were COMPLETELY finished with it, but we aren't. We'll get there though.

So, how do we rate the year? I think we rate it well. Maybe our philosphy resembles the airplane pilot who says, "Any landing you walk away from is a good one." We look back on the year and everyone is in good health. There were no major injuries. It's one more year that we, collectively, survived. We got to visit with friends and family over the year. Some of our friends even got engaged! Others moved. We made contact with old friends that we thought were certainly forgotten.

Yes. It was a good year. It had a good beat, and we could dance to it.
