This past Sunday the Schwind household set out to try and find their first geocache. It was challenging and fun, and we succeeded!

We'd been interested in the possibility of geocaching ever since we tried it last year while we were in Illinois visiting SlithyToves Resident Legomancer and Ms. Mancer. We went around to some caches with them and had such a great time that we decided it might be a good hobby for us. Last month we bought a GPS and this weekend we finally got to try it out. We especially want to do some geocaching when we go to Europe, so we decided we needed to know kind of how it worked before we get there. We chose Flight Path #1 as our first attempt at finding a hidden cache.

The hike was long, especially since we were taking turns carrying Sophia (Chaosopher did most of the carrying) since the grass was about as tall as she was. Thankfully it was overcast, so we didn't have to worry about getting sunburnt. After the long trek, Chaosopher found the cache and we felt thrillingly accomplished, not in the least because of all the work it took us to get to the thing. We told Sophia that we'd found treasure, and that she could pick anything she wanted out of the box and she seemed pretty excited by the concept of hidden goodies. She picked a golf ball, though for a few minutes it was a toss-up between the golf ball and the eminently more chokeable swirly blue bouncy ball.

All in all a great time, and we can't wait to do it again!
